I do know that one, and I think I have the screensaver file, but I haven't been able to get it to work on Windows 10 just yet. Rob, do you happen to have the Plus! (I think) of the one called Science? It is a magnifying orb that floats over your screen.

There are a couple more from the same series that I'll be adding to the site soon. Rob! You are AWESOME!! It's just like I remember! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! However, one computer where I tested it on had to have hardware acceleration disabled for the screensaver to work. To improve the quality of the graphics, you may need to enter the Settings menu for the screensaver, toggle on "Use Hardware Acceleration", and select the highest resolution where it says Display Mode. The screensaver will then automatically be installed, and the Screen Saver Settings panel should open. When you open it, simply click "Install".

Please download this installation file I created for the screensaver. I tested it to work on Windows 10 64-bit, but I'm still figuring out the best way to distribute it to you. Thanks, Rob! I have already downloaded and enjoyed the "pipes" screensaver !! (which I believe is from Windows 98)įound it for you, Celeste! It's part of the Organic Art screensaver created in the late 90s by a company called Computer Artworks. I will see if I can find the group of screensavers from the 98 Plus! package. However, if you're really keen on getting this Science Fiction screensaver working again on your computer, our tutorial for getting Johnny Castaway working on Windows 64-bit can probably also be used to get any other 16-bit screensaver working. A 64-bit Windows will run 32-bit programs, but not 16-bit.

Most screensavers created for Windows 95 and 98 are 16-bit programs, which may still work on modern versions of Windows, like 8 and 10, but only on 32-bit versions, not on 64-bit. Update: I found the screensaver and it's working on Windows 64-bit. I'm sure that screensaver can be found somewhere on the Web, but I'm also pretty sure that it would not work on your computer running Windows 10 64-bit. I've tried searching everywhere for this! Anyone?Ĭeleste 4 years ago Windows 10 圆4, Firefox The background appears to be a desert planet or something. WHERE can I find a free download of the 98 Plus! screensaver called science fiction? It's the one with 4 orange objects floating and morphing into each other.

OR alternatively you can lookup on forum on how to find these secrets.Windows 98 Plus! science fiction screensaver (hint - they both can be found in start menu, so don't get any crazy ideas like trying to intercept rat's cheese over and over, not only that's ridiculous but you also will hit your desk with your face (falling asleep) while trying to do so, besides i am not that cruel)). As before you can swap textures ( can't choose new ones tho, and there are no fractals, since i cannot be bothered to search for right exact formulas for those).Rat also has an objective now - keep searching for cheese, and it uses A* too.Second - after that - proceed to the exit. First one - find 5 stars, one after another. To increase length instead of just searching the exit there are now 2 objectives. However - player doesn't turn every angle, but instead uses A* pathfinding to find a way. Maze is now 32x32 instead of 16x16, and it's much more difficult due to improved algorithm.Well basically in windows 95 and windows 98 they had a screensaver 3d maze. Upg 0.2: some people said they can't see blue player arrow (low gamma system or monitor) so i recolored it into cyan.ĭo you remember this screensaver? I hope you do, otherwise you probably standing around, scratching your back, thinking "the hell?"
